Meowstache Coffee is a fast-paced game where you serve coffee and other hot drinks to cute little cats, dogs and tanukis. The more customers you serve, the more demanding they become. Keep an eye on your coffee stock so you don't run out, and watch your rating to avoid closing down.

My contributionSole Game Designer on the project: mechanics, balancing and pacing, then UI and UX integration.

Game Design

Documentation and balancing

A light Game Concept Document to present the gameplay to the team, and an automated economy sheet to find balanced stock and income values. The balancing goal: short runs of 1 to 3 minutes, where managing the stock stays tense without becoming punishing.

Scripting

UI and visual scripting

Built the UI together with a UI artist, constantly working back and forth on integration, improvements and testing. Visual scripting and integration of the whole UI in Unity, to take work off the gameplay programmers.

Integration

Integrated the Game Artists' assets and the music. Animated the menus and the UI with Unity's built-in tools, so the artists could focus on characters and props.

As Lead Game Designer under a tight deadline (4 days of production), I wrote a light version of the Game Concept Document, done quickly to describe the gameplay and share the idea of the game with the rest of the team. I reused the layout of a document from a personal project to save time: it is a document mainly meant for the team and the production. It came with a light economy sheet, an automated table to find balanced stock and income values, which I handed over to the Game Design & Programming students in charge of programming the stocks.
